In 2014, Hardline Productions and Twenty Something Theatre produced the west coast premiere of WIDE AWAKE HEARTS by Brendan Gall.
Directed by Ray Michal Prize recipient Brian Cochrane (Speech & Debate, Home Free!), Wide Awake Hearts is a play in which reality and fiction blur in hilarious and heartbreaking ways. Featuring Sean Harris Oliver (Of Mice and Men, Unstuck), Genevieve Fleming (Bug, Us & Everything We Own), Robert Salvador (The Rainmaker, Nothing But Sky), and Claire Hesselgrave (Speech & Debate, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as four friends – a writer, an actress, an actor, and an editor – who stumble through the nightmarish landscape of love and fidelity while making a movie in which art imitates life.
“Wide Awake Hearts is a seductive showcase of talent. Watching all of these actors is a joy. Wide Awake Hearts is one of this year’s most refreshing and enjoyable productions.” – Keegan Flick Parker, VanCity Buzz
“Wide Awake Hearts is a sharply written, insightful play. All four actors do an excellent job (. . .) Director Brian Cochrane and stage manager Breanne Jackson deserve kudos, as do [the] designers.” - Cynthia Ramsay, Jewish Independent
“The production does an excellent job (. . .) and the actors produce remarkable performances.” - Keara Barnes, GVPTA
