In 2014, Hardline produced BUG, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts (August: Osage County).  This production earned Jessie Richardson Theatre Award Nominations for Outstanding Performances by Genevieve Fleming and Jay Clift in their presentation of this biting psychological thriller.

Directed by Sean Harris Oliver (Our Neighbourhood, 500 Days to Mars), Bug is anunconventional love story between Agnes (Genevieve Fleming, Private Lives, Death of a Salesman), a lonely cocktail waitress living day-to-day in a run down motel, and Peter (Jay Clift, Cool Beans, Zombie Syndrome), an AWOL soldier with conspiracy theories so crazy they might be true. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) and featuring a stellar cast that includes Bob Frazer (Richard III, Macbeth), Melissa Oei (Boeing Boeing, She Stoops to Conquer), and Raphael Kepinski (It’s a Wonderful Life, Fall Away Home), Bug will have you buzzing from start to incredible finish.

“There is a slow burn in Bug through to its bizarre and skin crawling climax that is exhilarating, made even more exciting by some terrific performances.” – Mark Robins, gayvancouver.net

“Hardline Productions are a sexy young company that love psychologically complex stories and have a keen ear for sound and eye for movement. Genevieve Fleming (Agnes) is an actress of incredible depth and with ease she can bring truthful tears or raging anger. It is a testament to director Sean Harris Oliver that the actors bring such depth and raw emotion.” – David C Jones, The Charlebois Post

“The young actors do excellent work (. . .) Genevieve Fleming does by far the best work I’ve seen from her as Agnes. She’s credible in repose: exhausted, yearning, dirties. As Peter, Jay Clift also delivers.” - Colin Thomas, The Georgia Straight

“If Bug and Of Mice and Men are any early indication, Vancouver theatre has some talented stars.” – Cecilia Lu, VanCity Buzz
